Scarce RENOVA Alarm Pocket Watch. c.1911

Nice quality, scarce, Swiss made, Renova 'Patented Alarm Watch' manufactured by Fabrique Renova Manufacturing Co. around 1911.
Gunmetal steel case with gilt fittings. Hinged back with snap-on bezel and inner dust cover. Dust cover is fitted with an acrylic UB glass allowing the movement to be viewed. The base of the back has a foot which when opened, allows the watch to be stood upright. Attached to the inside of the back is the original waxed paper disc displaying the operating instructions. Watch is wound by turning the winding crown; the hands are set by pulling out and turning the crown. The alarm is wound by pushing and holding the lever (positioned at the 1 o’clock position) over to the left and turning the winding crown. The alarm time is set by fully depressing the nail set button (positioned at the 11 o’clock position) and turning the winding crown. Case diameter (not including pendant) : 50.5mm. Case condition : 85%.
Black enamel military style dial with separate white alarm register and subsidiary seconds. Luminous skeleton hands and hour markers. Dial condition : 100%.
Nice
quality, gilt, Swiss made, 15 jewel movement with alarm mechanism striking on
a gong. Two mainsprings (one powering the watch mechanism, the other powering
the alarm). Movement marked, "D.R.P. - Bte S.G.D.G. - BREVET" (indicating that
the movement design was patented in Switzerland, Germany and France). Movement
condition (appearance) : 90%. Good working order. Time keeping : good.
The 'Fabrique Renova Manufacturing Co.' was founded by Henri Dalcher in Le Locle, Switzerland and the 'Renova' trade name was registered on the 9th February, 1911.
