Rare, U.S. made, W.W.I. period, gold filled, Elgin transitional wrist watch with an unusual offset dial and winding crown. Dating from around 1917.
Gold filled case with screw-on back and bezel. Inside back stamped with the case name, "Royal" and the maker's initials, "B&B" (Bates & Bacon, New York). Case width (not including crown) : 32.5mm. Case condition : 90%
Matt silver coloured dial with subsidiary seconds. Bold black numerals, luminous hour markers and blued steel luminous hands. Luminous paint no longer active. Dial signed, "Elgin". Dial condition : 85%.
Good quality, U.S. made, nickel plated, 3/0 size (12.75 ligne) Elgin movement (Model 3). 7 jewels. Movement decorated with an attractive damascened, machine engraved design. Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement signed, "Elgin, U.S.A.". Movement condition (appearance) : 98%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
