Nice quality, solid gold, Breguet type watch key dating from the early 19th century.

This watch key is cased in solid gold (unmarked, but positively tested) and has ratchet mechanism which prevents the pocket watch from being wound in the wrong direction. This protects the watch from being damaged and saves having to re-engage the the key on the winding arbour on each turn. This key can only be wound in a clockwise direction. Central swivel bale ring allows key to be attached to the end of a watch chain. Length : 29mm. Fits a pocket watch winding arbour of approximately 1.3mm in width. Nice condition. Good working order.
