Steel Military Style J.W. BENSON Wrist Watch. 1940s

Stainless steel military style wrist watch retailed by the quality London based watchmaker, "J. W. Benson" (originally watchmaker to Queen Victoria). Dating from the 1940s.
Solid stainless steel, mid sized case with snap-on back. Inner movement holder with dust cover. Holder and dust cover clamped together and tensioned with an unusual, clip-on, spring assembly. Case width (not including crown) : 30mm. Case condition : 90%.
Original black military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Bold luminous numerals and hands (luminous paint no longer active). Inner 24hr chapter. Dial signed "J. W. Benson, London - Shock Absorber - Non Magnetic". Dial condition : 90%.
Good quality, nickel plated, 10.5 ligne, 15 jewel movement (A.S. calibre 984). Movement signed, "J. W. Benson, London". Engine turned decoration. Shock absorber. Movement condition (appearance) : 95%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
Fitted with a black Nato style nylon
strap.
