Scarce Quality 19th C. Rosewood Deck Watch Case
SOLD
Scarce, very nice quality, figured rosewood, locking deck watch case, dating from the 19th century.
This beautiful deck watch case is made from figured rosewood veneer and has solid nickel bound corners for protection. The inside of the case is lined throughout with blue velvet. The lid of the case is opened by depressing a button mounted on the front. Once open, the watch can be viewed through a circular window in the central section of the case. This section can be locked using the key (supplied), thus protecting the watch from tampering or theft. Opening the centre section reveals a wood backed pad with a sprung collar which holds the watch (appears to be a replacement). Above this pad is a recessed compartment designed to store the watch chain. The pad can be lifted out to access another compartment below which can be used to store paperwork etc. Dimensions : 116mm x 89mm x 62mm. Nice condition.
