Rare, very large, stainless steel Omega Proplof professional divers wrist watch, dating from the early 1970s. The name "Plo-Prof" was short for "PLOngeur PROFessionnel" (which translates as Professional Diver). At the time it was designed, being water resistant to 600m/2000ft, this model was Omega's ultimate diving watch. It was used by the famous French diver Jacques Cousteau while carrying out a series of experiments at depths of 500 metres.

Very large, extremely robust, single piece case with an unusual square winding/setting crown which is secured by a screw-down locking nut. Inside case signed, "Omega" (case ref. 166.077). Rotating time elapse bezel with it's own locking mechanism (released by pressing red button mounted on side of case at the 2 o'clock position). Fitted with original thick mineral glass crystal in perfect condition. Case width (including crown) : 55mm. Case condition : 85%.

Comes with an original, new-old stock, Omega "Ploprof" stainless steel mesh bracelet in pristine, unused condition. When new, the watch came with the option of either a steel mesh bracelet or an Isofrane rubber strap.

Original dark blue dial with bold luminous hands and numerals. Dial signed, "Omega Automatic - Seamaster - 660m/2000ft - Professional. Unusual, striking, bright orange minute hand (the above pictures do do show it's true colour). Date window at the 3 o'clock position. Dial condition : 100%.

High quality, gilt, 12.5 ligne, fast beat (28,800A/h), rotor automatic, sweep seconds movement. Signed, "Omega" (calibre 1002). Hacking seconds. Quick change date. Micrometer regulator. Movement condition (appearance) : 98%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
