W.W.I period waterproof wrist watch, intended for military use (private purchase).
Round Sterling silver case with wire lugs and a screw-down bezel (bezel attached to movement). Once the bezel is unscrewed, the movement can then be lifted out of the case. Case signed, "Z.W.Co" (Zenith Watch Co.). British import hallmark for year 1918. Case diameter (not including crown) :35mm. Case condition : 70% (Small shallow ding to back of case, not visible on wrist. Milling on bezel partially worn). Due to it's age, the waterproof qualities of this watch can no longer be guaranteed.
White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds.
Luminous numerals and skeleton hands. Luminous paint faded with age. Dial signed,
"Land & Water" and with the retailers name, "Birch & Gaydon,
Fenchurch St, London". This company supplied equipment to the British Military during
W.W.I, as well as selling it privately to members of the armed forces. Dial condition :
90%.
15 jewel gilt movement with micrometric regulator. Signed, "Zenith". Movement
condition : 85%. Time Keeping : To within approx. 1.5 mins / 24hrs.
