W.W.I. Period Military Type BORGEL Wrist Watch. 1914

W.W.I. period, sterling silver, military type, "Borgel Patent" cased wrist watch, dating from 1914. Watches such as these were designed with military use in mind and were more often than not sold to troops as private purchase items.
Sterling silver, "Borgel" case (once the sprung loaded winding crown is pulled out of position, the movement and bezel (as one piece) screws directly into case). "Nail" hand setting button (at 4 o'clock position). Case signed "F.B" (François Borgel - a Swiss company specialising in early dust/moisture-proof cases). English (Birmingham) sterling silver import hallmark, corresponding to the year 1914. Fitted with original bevelled glass crystal (light surface wear). Case diameter (not including crown) : 35mm. Case condition : 90%.
White enamel military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Luminous hands and numerals. Dial condition : 98% (a couple of tiny nicks out of edge of dial - not visible, hidden under bezel).
Good quality, gilt, Swiss made, 13 ligne, 15 jewel movement (unsigned). Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition (appearance) : 98%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
