W.W.I. Period Silver Military Type Wrist Watch. c.1917 (Case Back & Movement)

Genuine W.W.I. period, sterling silver, military type wrist watch. Dating from 1917. Watches such as these were designed with military use in mind and were available to troops as private purchase items.

Heavy, robust, solid sterling silver case with a milled screw-on back and bezel. Silver wire lugs. Inside back stamped with a full British sterling silver hallmark corresponding to the year 1917 and signed, "Dennison Watch case Co.". Fitted with an acrylic U.B. crystal. Case width (not including crown) : 36mm. Case condition : 85%.

Black enamel military style dial with white subsidiary seconds. Luminous skeleton hands and numerals: 3, 9, & 12. Dial condition : 90% (nicks to edge of dial - not visible (hidden under bezel) - very faint hairline).

Good quality, nickel plated, 15 jewel, Swiss made lever movement (unsigned). Decorated with Geneva stripes. Bimetallic balance wheel. Movement condition (appearance) : 90%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
