Rare ENGLISH MADE 18ct Gold W.W.I. Military Wrist Watch. 1914

Rare, fine quality, English made, 18ct gold, W.W.I. period military type wrist watch. Retailed by the renowned London Jewellers, "Goldsmith & Silversmith Company Ltd." and dating from 1914.
Nice quality, solid 18ct gold case with hinged bezel. Movement accessed by opening hinged bezel and unlocking the movement by pressing in a sprung bolt at the 6 o'clock position. Movement can then be swung out on hinge. Inside case stamped with a full English 18ct gold hallmark corresponding to the year 1914 and with the case maker's initials "R&S". Back beautifully hand engraved with the original owners name, "Henry". Case still fitted with original (bolt on) crown. "Nail" hand setting button on edge of case at 4 o'clock position. Case diameter (not including crown) : 34.5mm. Case condition : 90%. Fitted with original bevelled glass crystal (very good condition).
Still fitted with original, stitched-on leather strap with original hallmarked solid 18ct gold buckle, stamped with the same makers mark as the case ("R&S"). Strap still in good condition.
Original white enamel military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Hand painted numerals and minute and second tracks. Luminous hands and numerals. Dial condition : 100%.
Very high quality, English made, gilt, three quarter plate lever movement. Movement signed, "Goldsmith & Silversmith Company Ltd. - 112 Regent Street, London. W.". Cut, bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Breguet hairspring. Fully jewelled to the third wheel (jewels mounted with screw set chatons). Capped pallet and escape wheel jewels. Movement condition : 100%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
Comes with period jeweller's box.
