period, sterling silver, military type "half hunter" wrist watch with
sprung loaded cover, inlaid with enamel. Manufactured in Switzerland for the
"Anglo Swiss Watch Co., Calcutta" and likely to be sold as a private
purchase item to members of the British army serving in India (hence the name
"Cavalry" on the dial).
Sterling silver 1/2 hunter case with sprung loaded cover, snap on inner bezel
and hinged back and inner dust cover. Cover springs opens by depressing the
winding crown. Cover has a small glazed window in it's centre where the dial and
hands can be viewed without having to open the cover. Around this window are
inlaid black enamel numerals and minute chapter. Case stamped with a Swiss
"0.935" silver hallmark (purer than sterling). Silver wire lugs. Case
width (not including crown or button) : 35mm. Case condition : 80% (a couple of
shallow dings to cover).
White enamel military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Luminous hands and
numerals (luminous paint no longer active). Dial signed, "Anglo Swiss Watch
Co. - Cavalry - Calcutta - Swiss Made". Dial condition : 80% (a couple of
very faint hairlines and a tiny chip out of edge of dial at 3 o'clock position which
has been filled).
Gilt, 10 jewel, unsigned Swiss made movement. Movement condition (appearance) :
90%. Time keeping : good.
