Nice quality gunmetal chronograph pocket watch retailed by the London based watchmakers, "S. Smith & Son" and dated 1903.
Gunmetal case with snap-on bezel and hinged back and inner dust cover. Gilt fittings. Depressing winding crown starts, stops and resets chronograph function. The back of case is beautifully hand engraved with the inscription, "S P & S Ltd. - Presented to H. Grunwell - Dec. 31st 1903". Case diameter (not including crown) : 52.5mm. Case condition : 95%.
White enamel dial with dual registers: subsidiary second dial and chronograph 30 minute register. Black Roman numerals and outer chronograph second chapter, divided into 5ths of a second. Gilt hands. Dial signed, "S. Smith & Son. London - N. M. - 133-186". Dial condition : 85% (fine hairlines).
High quality, jewelled chronograph movement (unsigned). Gilt plates and steel chrono. works. Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition : 95%. Good working order. Time keeping : good.
