Scarce CORTEBERT British Military Pocket Watch. c.1935

Scarce, quality, British military pocket watch, manufactured by the Swiss maker "Cortebert" and supplied by the Birmingham based jewellers, "Carley & Clemence Ltd". Dating from around 1935.
Large, heavy, solid nickel case with screw down back and bezel. British military markings on outside of back: War Department arrow, serial no. "A 2285" and the assignation, "G.S. Mk.II." (General Service Mark 2). Same serial number also repeated on bottom side of central portion of case (as well as on the dial). Fitted with acrylic UB crystal. Case diameter (not including pendant) : 58mm. Case condition : 85%.
Black enamel dial with subsidiary seconds. Luminous hands and numerals. Dial signed, "Carley & Clemence Ltd" and bears the serial no. "A 2285" (same number as is marked on the case).
Nice quality, gilt, 15 jewel movement. Movement signed, "Cal. 526". Movement positively identified as being manufactured by Cortebert - calibre 526 (this is the same calibre of movement as is used in the Rolex G.S. Mk. II. pocket watch). Chaton set jewels. Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition : 100%. Time keeping : good.
