Sterling
silver military type wrist watch which is an unusual derivative of the Borgel
patent case. Dating from 1923. Watches such as these were designed with military
use in mind and were more often that not sold to troops as private purchase
items.
Unusual sterling silver, "Borgel" type case which differs from the standard version by having a threaded bezel (instead of a threaded movement holder) which is connected to the movement. The bezel can be unscrewed from the main body of the case allowing the movement and winding crown assembly to be removed. Case signed "F.B" (François Borgel - a Swiss company specialising in early dust/moisture-proof cases). Full British sterling silver import hallmark, corresponding to 1923. Fitted with it's original glass crystal (nice condition). Case diameter (not including crown) : 35mm. Case condition : 90%.
White enamel military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Luminous hands and numerals. Dial condition : 90% (a small nick out out edge of dial at 4 o'clock position - partially hidden under bezel).
Nice quality, gilt, Swiss made, 15 jewel movement. Unsigned, but positively identified as being manufactured by the Swiss manufacturer, "FHF". Cut, bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition (appearance): 90%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
Fitted with a black leather military style strap (wrist guard can be easily removed to convert into a standard strap).
