Sterling
silver "half hunter" fob watch with sprung loaded cover. Manufactured
by the prestigious Swiss company "International Watch Co." (IWC). Dated (by serial
number) to around 1890.
Sterling silver 1/2 hunter case with sprung loaded cover, snap on bezel and
hinged back and inner dust cover. Cover and back decorated with an engine turned
design (still sharp). Cover springs open by depressing the winding crown. Cover has a small
glazed window in it's centre through which the dial and hands can be viewed
without having to open the cover. Fitted with acrylic UB crystals. "Nail" hand setting button on edge
of case at 4 o'clock position. Gold hinges and nail set guard. Inside case is
stamped with a Swiss "0.935" silver hallmark (purer than sterling) and
the serial number "22579". Case diameter (not including pendant) :
36.5mm. Case condition : 85%.
White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds. Black Roman numerals. Blue steel
hands. Dial condition : 100%
High quality, gilt, 17 jewel lever movement. Unsigned but positively identified
as being manufactured by International Watch Co. (as illustrated in "Pocket
Watches - 19th & 20th Century" by Alan Shenton). Bimetallic
compensation balance wheel. Wolf's teeth winding gear. Movement condition
(appearance) : 100%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
