Rare French Silver Button Hole Watch. c. 1900

Rare and unusual, French made, silver button hole watch. Designed to be worn in the button hole of the lapel. Dating from around 1900.
Solid silver case with a hinged back and snap-on bezel. "Nail" hand setting button mounted on case at the 2 o'clock position. Inside back stamped with the small French silver (0.800 grade) "crab" hallmark. Back and side of case marked with the maker's initials, "E.P." and the French Patent mark, "B'TE. SGDG" - Brevet. Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement (Patent - Without Guarantee of the Government). Diameter of main case (not including crown) : 24.5mm. Diameter of bezel : 12.5mm. Fitted with original glass crystal and silver safety chain. Case condition : 80%.
Pale pink enamel dial with black numerals, blue number 12 and gold coloured minute markers. Gilt hands. Dial condition : 100%.
Gilt, unsigned, mechanical movement with cylinder escapement. Jeweled to the third wheel. Movement condition (appearance) : 90% (good working order - some "clicking" to winding mechanism). Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.
Comes with original jeweller's case.
