Large Stainless Steel HELVETIA Deck Watch. 1930s

Large, high quality, stainless steel deck watch made by the Swiss manufacturer, "Helvetia" (General Watch Co.). Dating from the 1930s. Deck watches such as this example were designed to be carried on board a ship and used as a back-up to the main chronometer. Very good condition.
Large stainless steel case with screw back and bezel. Inside back marked, "Acier Inoxydable"(stainless steel). Fitted with original bevelled crystal. Case width : 62mm. Case condition : 90%.
White enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals. Outer chapter with 5 minute markings and 1/2 second divisions. Blue steel hands. Dial condition : 100%.
High grade, gilt, 17 jewel sweep seconds movement. Unsigned, but positively identified as being manufactured by Helvetia. Capped escape wheel jewels. Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition (appearance) : 98%. Time keeping : Good.
