Original W.W.II. period Kriegsmarine (German Navy) issue wrist watch. Supplied by the German company "Wagner" and fitted with an unusual tonneau shaped movement.
Large nickel plated case with stainless steel snap on back and inner dust cover. Fixed strap bars. Issue number stamped on back of case, "605215". Case width (not including crown) : 35.5mm. Case condition : 75% (slight wear to plating).
Silver coloured dial with subsidiary seconds. Black numerals, luminous hour markers and
hands (luminous paint faded with age). Signed "K.M." (Kriegsmarine) and
"Wagner". Dial condition : 80% (some discolouration to lacquer).
Original, nice quality, German made tonneau shaped movement. 15 jewels. Signed "PUW
500" (Pforzheimer Uhren-Werk - Calibre 500). Shock absorber. Movement condition
: 95%. Time keeping : good. As well as "Wagner" watches, these movements were also
fitted into "Para", "Speck", "Vogele" and "Wiemer" Kriegsmarine models. It was believed
that fitting these tonneau shaped movements into larger circular cases would
distance the movement from the sides of the case, giving them greater protection
from water penetration.
