West End Watch Co. British Civil Service Issue. c.1940 (Case Back, Dust Cover & Movement)

British Civil Service (India) issue wrist watch manufactured by West End Watch Co.

Stainless steel, mid sized, tropical type case with screw-on back and inner dust cover. Back of case signed, "West End Watch Co.". Dust cover stamped with British Government markings, "C.S.(I)" - (Civil Service - India). Case diameter (not including crown) : 28mm. Case condition : 80%.

Matt Silver dial (nicely aged) with subsidiary seconds. Luminous hands and alternating hour markers and numerals (luminous paint faded with age). Signed, "West End Watch Co. -  Sowar - Prima" in black and red. Dial condition : 85%.

Quality, gilt, 15 jewel movement. Signed with "West End Watch Co." logo. Shock absorber. Movement condition (appearance): 95%. Time keeping : good.
 

The West End Watch Company is a Swiss watch manufacturer which was formed in Saint-Imier in 1886 by Amstutz and Droz. The company developed and produced the first waterproof pocket watch which they named, "L'Impermeable".
