W.W.I. Zenith Military Style Pocket Watch. c. 1915

 SOLD

Apologies for the poor quality of this picture

Silver two piece cache case with screw down bezel (once bezel has been removed, movement swings out on a hinge at 12 o'clock). Width 51mm. Case is signed "ZWC" (Zenith Watch Co.) and has an English silver import hallmark with date letter for 1915, no military markings. Case condition 90%

Gilt 15 jewel Zenith movement with micrometer regulator. Movement Condition 90%.
Recently serviced, keeps time to within one minute a day.

Black enamel subsidiary seconds dial (perfect) with luminous numerals small amount of luminous paint missing on 10).  Luminous skeleton hands. Overall dial condition 90%.

During W.W.1, military watches were only issued in to British forces in relatively small numbers. Most of the troops had to purchase their timepieces privately; watches like this one were manufactured to military specifications for this purpose (hence no military markings).
