W.W.II. Italian Armoured Division Cigarette Case - EL ALAMEIN
SOLD

Genuine W.W.II. period, hand crafted, aluminium trench art cigarette case made for (or by) a member of the Italian 132 "Ariete" Armoured Division.
The front of this very attractive case is hand engraved with the scene of a desert battle which is most likely El-Alemein (in which the Ariete Division were involved). It depicts an Italian anti-tank gun firing at British crewed Sherman tanks. Above is a diving Ju.87 and a Me.109 pursuing a Spitfire. In the top left hand corner is the badge of the 132 "Ariete" Armoured Division. The reverse is decorated with a bomber flying over two battleships which are firing their guns. The case has a sprung hinge and catch as well as an inner spring for retaining the cigarettes. Good condition (some light oxidization to the aluminium and a minor shallow crease on the front which could probably be carefully pushed out). Dimensions : 154mm x 83mm x 11mm.
