Original W.W.II. period MK III prismatic compass made for the British armed forces. Dating from 1940.
Nice quality brass compass with black finish. A hinged prismatic lens folds over the compass dial which is used as a sight as well as allowing the user to view the compass dial markings simultaneously. The lid has a glass lens with an engraved line which is also intended to be used as a sight. The compass is oil filled and the dial is made from genuine mother of pearl. The base is stamped with the maker's mark, "T.G. Co. Ltd, London", the British War Department arrow and the date 1940. Good condition (some wear to paint work). Working order.
