Scarce Boer War "Gentleman in Khaki" Stick Pin. c.1900

Scarce Boer War (South African War) stick pin, most likely made to be sold to raise money for the Daily Mail newspaper's "Absent Minded Beggar Fund" (named after Rudyard Kipling's poem - specially written for the fund) which was set up to help the wives and children of British reservists. Dating from around 1899.
This attractive item bears the photographic image of Richard Caton Woodville's well known illustration of a British soldier, known as, "A Gentleman in Khaki". This image is covered with celluloid and is mounted in a gilt frame which is attached to a nickel pin. Overall length : 59mm. Good condition (slight wear to plating).
