Rare 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair Exhibitor's Medal (Reverse)

Scarce, original silver plated bronze exhibitors medal from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition (also known as The Chicago World's Fair).

This front of this very beautiful medal shows a goddess and an angel standing on a harbour with ships in the background. Below is the latin caption, "Genio - Reduci - Patria - Grata". The medal also bears the name of the artist, "Roty". The reverse is decorated with the image of laurel leaves, tools, a cog and an artist's pallet. It bears the inscription, "Exposition Internationale de Chicago 1893 - Section Francaise - Hors Concours - Henri Mirchouse - Exposant " which roughly translates as "International Exposition of Chicago 1893 - French Section - Outside Contest - Henri Mirchouse - Exhibitor". The edge is stamped, "Bronze". Width : 53.5mm. Good condition (slight wear and tear, mainly to edges).
