Original White Star Line Plate. c.1910
SOLD
Original "White Star Line" plate dating around 1910 (same period of the famous "White Star" ship, R.M.S. Titanic). Likely to have been used in either the 2nd or 3rd class dinning room.
This heavy duty plate has a diameter of 193mm. It has a hand painted gilt band around its circumference and a two colour (red & brown) "White Star Line " logo in the centre. Uncertain as to the exact use of this plate as it has a central recess, possibly to hold a soup bowl, etc.? There are no other markings on the plate. The plate has been broken in two pieces, but with a clean break which has been repaired. The break is visible, but only faintly. Otherwise the plate is in nice condition (some crazing to the glaze which can be expected due to it's age). Weight before packaging : 350g (12.5oz).
