Original Photograph of "The Royal Sovereign" (Queen Victoria's Locomotive). c.1900

Scarce original sepia photograph of "The Royal Sovereign", the steam locomotive that pulled Queen Victoria's official royal coaches. I have been led to believe that this was the actual locomotive that also pulled Victoria's funeral train. Dating from around 1900.

This photograph still on it's original mount shows the locomotive "The Royal Sovereign" (No. 3373). The front of the loco has Queen Victoria's cypher, "V.R.I." (Victoria Regina Imperatrix) mounted in a wreath, above this is the queen's crown. On it's side is the royal coat of arms. Overall dimensions (including mount) : 240mm x 190mm, actual image dimensions : 202mm x 147mm. Photograph in nice condition (tiny fold in top left edge - some tearing to right hand side of mount (has been fixed).

A nice historical image appealing to both royal and railway collectors.
