9ct Gold "Mordan" Telescopic Sheath Propelling Pencil. 1907

Very nice quality, solid 9ct gold telescopic sheath propelling pencil made by Sampson Mordan & Co., London.
The pencil is housed in a sheath with a rotating stirrup mount, to which is attached a bale ring. The pencil opens telescopically (in the same fashion as a "magic" pencil) as it is removed from the sheath. The lead is propelled by twisting the nozzle. Lead mark on nozzle : "M". The body of the pencil is decorated by fine vertical engine turned bands. Both sheath and pencil are stamped with an English hallmark corresponding to the year 1907. Both pieces are also stamped with the "Mordan" maker's mark. The sheath is professionally engraved with the Initials, "A. H. G.". Length (with pencil housed in sheath, including stirrup, but not bale ring) : 48mm. Length of pencil (fully extended) : 69mm. Nice condition. Good working order.
