Original Field Marshal Sir George Stuart White lapel badge
(pin) made as a souvenir of the Anglo-Boer War and dating from around 1900. Examples of these badges are exhibited in the National Army Museum in London.
This badge is has a steel back and bears a
photographic image of the Field Marshal (coated with celluloid). It is still fitted
with its original brass pin. Diameter:
22.5mm. Very good condition.
Field Marshal Sir George Stuart
White VC, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, GCVO (1835-1912) was a British Army
officer and Victoria Cross
recipient. He was commander of the forces in Natal during the opening of
the Boer War and commanded the garrison at the Siege of Ladysmith
(1899-1900).
