High quality, silver plated bronze medal depicting a beautiful railway and cycling image. Made as a souvenir of the Lyon Express train and dating from around 1890.

This front of this attractive medal is decorated with a very detailed image of a cyclist (sitting upon an early safety bicycle) watching a steam locomotive pass. It also bears the artist’s signature, “A. Erdmann”. The reverse bears the images of a shield, a lion and a decorative cartouche. Engraved around the edge is the following inscription, “Don de L'Express de Lyon” (gift of the express train of Lyon). Diameter : 40mm. Nice condition.
