Quality "Octo" 8-Day Motor Car Dashboard Clock. c.1915

Good quality, Swiss made, 8-day motor car dashboard clock made by “Manufacture d'horlogerie Coleru Meuri” and dating from around 1915.
Nickel case with snap-on bezel and hinged back. Quality Swiss made, 8-day, non-magnetic lever movement with large mainspring. Spring has a "slipping" device which prevents over-winding. White enamel dial with black numerals. Mainspring barrel signed, "Octo - Non-magnetic". Diameter (not including pendant) : 51mm. Good condition (some light wear to case). Working order. Would have been fitted to the dashboard by a cup type bracket.

watchmaking company,
“Manufacture
d'horlogerie Coleru Meuri” was formed in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland. The
company won medals at The International Clock Exhibition, in
La Chaux-de-Fonds
in 1881, in Zurich in 1883, in Antwerp in 1885 and Paris in 1893. It also won a
medal in 1893 at the ‘World’s Columbian Exhibition’ in Chicago, U.S.A. The
company was renowned for its clocks, braille watches, dual-dial calendar moon
phase watches, 24 hour display watches and cyclometers. In August 1903, the
company registered the trade name “Octo” for use with their range of 8-day
clocks. As well as “Octo”, Coleru Meuri also manufactured under several other
trade names. Examples of these were: “Minerva”, “Bicycle Club Watch”, “La
Mascotte” and “Compteur
Kilometrique – Mascotte”.
