Rare Royal Automobile Club/Junior Car Club Associate Member's Badge. 1930's

Rare British RAC, Junior Car Club issue "Associate Member's" badge dating from the early 1930's.

Chrome plated badge in the form of a wheel being supported by the god Mercury. Above the wheel is the King's crown. The centre of the wheel bears the enamelled badge of the Brooklands based "Junior Car (Motor Racing) Club. Under terms of RAC membership, members of associated clubs were granted permission to incorporate their own club logo to the badge.

Height (not including bolt) : 97mm. Good condition (some typical wear and tear to chroming, enamel in very good condition).

The "Junior Car Club" was a motor racing club which was based at the famous Brooklands circuit and was formed in 1919. After W.W.II. it amalgamated with the "Brooklands Automobile Racing Club". In 1949 the name was changed to the "British Automobile Racing Club" (keeping the same initials). At this point the Goodwood circuit became it's new home (Brooklands had closed at the start of the war).
