Attractive vintage enamel lapel badge made for Ariel Motors and dating from the 1930s. The aerial horse logo was first used in the late 1920s.
Good quality, gilt brass lapel badge decorated in black, blue and red enamel with the image of the company's horse and horseshoe logo. Button hole fastening. Badge height : 18mm. Very good condition.
Ariel Motors were a British manufacturer based in Bournbrook, Birmingham. The original company was established in 1870 by James Starley and William Hillman to make bicycles and in 1902 Ariel produced their first motorcycle. During W.W.II., the Ariel factory was turned over to military production and in 1944 the company was sold to BSA. The name was discontinued in 1970.
