Very attractive, original, silver plated and enamel lapel badge made to be worn by officials of the famous rally, “The Coupe Des Alpes”. Most likely dating from the 1950s.
The badge is in the form of a cogged wheel with the organisers initials “ASACMP” (Association Sportive De L’Automobile Club De Marseille Provence) along the top. The centre bears the image of mountains and the coat of arms of Marseilles. The reverse is still fitted with its original pin and the bottom has two small loops from which year bars can be suspended. Diameter: 37.5mm. Good condition.
The Coupe des Alpes, also known as the Alpine Rally, was a three day event which started at Marseilles and wound its way through the French and Italian Alps.
