French Bronze "Dunlop" Commemorative Medal. 1922

High quality bronze medal produced to commemorate the opening of the Dunlop tyre factory at Montluçon, France in 1922.
The front of this very attractive medal bears the image of the god Mercury supporting a "Dunlop Cord" tyre with one hand and collecting latex rubber in a bowl with the other. The medal is also signed by the artist, "R. Baudichon" (René Baudichon). The reverse shows an aerial view of the factory and the founder of the Dunlop company, "John Boyd Dunlop". Around the edge is the caption, "Societe Anonyme des Pheumatiques Dunlop" (Dunlop Tyres Ltd.). The edge of the medal is stamped with the foundry mark and the word "Bronze". Comes with original fitted case with inscription "Inauguration des Usines Dunlop - Montluçon. 29 Septembre 1922" (Inauguration of the Dunlop factory - Montluçon. 29 September 1922). Diameter of medal : 50mm. Nice condition (a couple of tiny bumps to the edge of medal - slight wear and tear to case).
