Rare Silver "Borel" Hunter Pocket Watch With Sports Car Design. c.1930

Rare, high quality, Swiss made, sterling silver hunter pocket watch manufactured by Borel Fils & Cie. and decorated with an image of a sports car in niello (black silver alloy). Dating form around 1930.

Solid sterling silver, full hunter case with a hinged, sprung loaded cover. Opened by depressing button located on edge of case within the bow. Once opened, the watch itself can be swung out on a hinge for winding and accessing the movement. The case which holds the watch has a snap-on back and bezel (which is fitted with a glass crystal). The outer cover is beautifully engraved with the image of speeding sports car and inlaid with 'niello'. The inside of the various case parts are stamped with both Swiss and German "0.925" sterling silver hallmarks, with the mark, "H.F." (Huguenin Freres - high quality Swiss case maker's), and with the watchmakers name, "Borel Fils & Cie.". Case diameter (not including pendant) : 40mm. Case condition : 90%.

Silver coloured dial with subsidiary seconds. Luminous, military style hands and numerals (luminous paint no longer active). Dial signed, "Borel Fils & Cie.". Dial condition : 85%

Nice quality, Swiss made, nickel plated, 15 jewel, lever movement. Marked with a letter "A" as well as an image of crossed cannons. Movement condition (appearance) : 98%. Recently serviced. Time keeping : good.

Comes with a period jewellers box.
