1966 Monte Carlo Rally - Heuer "Rally-Master" Clock & Stopwatch

High quality Heuer clock & stopwatch combination which was referred to by Heuer as the "Rally-Master". These items were designed to be fitted on the dashboards of rally cars, but were also adopted by the RAF to fit in aircraft cockpits. This example is fitted with an original, custom made, aluminium back plate which was specially produced by the Cooper Works Team for the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally. This plate came from an ex-employee of the Cooper Works.
The Rally-Master combination consists of a Heuer 8-day "Master-Time" clock, a Heuer "Monte-Carlo" stopwatch and a special back-plate to which the instruments are attached. Both the clock and stopwatch measure 55mm in diameter and the overall width of the back-plate is 138mm.
The Master-Time clock is an ex Royal Air Force model. It has a matt black metal body and winding crown and a black dial with luminous hands and numerals. The dial is signed "Heuer - Master Time - 8-Days" and bears the circled "T" mark which is used on some military issue timepieces to indicate the use of tritium luminous paint. The side of the clock is engraved with the British Ministry of Defence assignation : a broad arrow and the code "6A/11146 - H.T.L./3".
The "Monte-Carlo" stopwatch has a chrome body, winding crown and button, and has a black rotating tachymeter bezel. The black dial has luminous numerals (divided into 60 seconds), a luminous minute and sweep second hand and a window which shows the elapsed hours. The dial is signed "Heuer - Monte Carlo". The side of the clock is engraved with the code, "67987". The stopwatch starts and stops by pressing the winding crowns and resets by pressing the button mounted on the side of the case at the 1 o'clock position.
The satin finish aluminium back-plate is engraved "Monte Carlo Rally 1966" and with the Heuer logo.
