Quality 8-Day 'Goliath' watch and rare heavy brass case specially designed to attach it to a motor car dashboard . Dating from around 1904.
This nice quality case is made from solid brass and is specially designed to house a large 'goliath' watch. The watch is accessed by using the key to unlock the lid, which then opens on a hinge. Once the lid is open, the bezel can then be removed by giving it a quarter turn to the left. The bezel is still fitted with it's original thick bevelled glass. The case has an angled base which was specially designed to be fitted to the low, vertical dashboards of a veteran car and points the watch dial towards the driver. It is stamped with both a patent and registered design number (which dates it to 1904). The back is stamped with the maker's trademark, "Imspecs". Case diameter : 85mm. Very good condition. Comes with key.
The oversize 'Goliath' watch has a solid nickel case with a snap-on bezel and a hinged back & inner dust cover. The bezel is still fitted with it's original bevelled glass. It has a nice quality, Swiss made,15 jewel, 8-day movement with a bimetallic compensation balance wheel. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds in perfect condition and blued steel hands. Dial signed, "8-Days". Watch case diameter (not including pendant) : 66mm. Very good condition. Good working order.
