Rare, matching pair (same serial numbers) of original "Brooklands Automobile Racing Club" guest's lapel badges (pins) dating from 1912. An original complete set consisted of a members badge and two guest badges.

These early, attractive gilt brass badges are decorated with green enamel and were made for the club's 1912 season, only five years after the opening of the circuit. The fronts bear the initials "BARC" (Brooklands Automobile Racing Club) and the date, "1912". The reverse of both the badges are stamped with the number, "1526" and are also marked with the makers name, "Dobson, 200 Piccadilly. W. ". These badges are mounted on brooch pin fasteners. Width : 41mm. Very good condition.

Brooklands was the world's first purpose built motor racing circuit. It was built in Weybridge, Surrey, England, and opened on 28th June 1907. It was the home to many important events including three successful World Land Speed Record attempts. It closed at the outbreak of war in 1939 when it's grounds were taken over by the aircraft manufacturer Vickers.
