"Owen Racing Motors Association" Lapel Badge. 1950s

1950s B.R.M. Advertisement
An advertisement for the B.R.M. Team dating
from the late 1950s (not included with the badge).

Original chrome plated and enamel lapel badge made for members of the Owen Racing Motors Association (the supporters association of the Formula 1 team "British Racing Motors"). Dating from the 1950s.

The centre of this badge is made in the form of the BRM "star & roundel" logo and above is the insignia of the Owen Organization. Below is the inscription, "O.R.M.A" (Owen Racing Motors Association). The badge is mounted onto a button hole fastening and it's reverse bears the manufacturer's mark, "Marples & Beasley, Birmingham". Nice condition.

British Racing Motors was established in 1947 by the famous pre-war racing driver Raymond Mays in an attempt to create an all British, world class racing car. The first car did not compete until August 1950 and in 1952 the team was taken over by the industrialist, Sir Alfred Owen (under the Owen Racing Organization). The team continued until the end of 1974.
