Early "Ideal Solid Tyres" Advertising Paperweight. c.1895

Rare glass paperweight advertising "Ideal Rubber Tyres". Dating from around 1895.

Bulbous glass paperweight, it's base engraved with a design showing a cross section of a wheel rim fitted with a solid rubber tyre, it also bears the inscription, "The Ideal - Patent Rubber Tyres". Solid rubber tyres predated pneumatic tyres which were first used around 1895. The design is decorated with blue, black and yellow paint. Diameter : 74mm. Good condition (some surface wear).

A very early motoring related item.
