"Dinky Toys" Die Cast M.G. Record Car. c.1946

Miniature diecast model of Lt. Colonel "Goldie" Gardner's "M.G. Streamliner" record car made in England around 1946 by Meccano Ltd., as part of their "Dinky Toys" series (No. 23p).
This model is still fitted with it's original tyres and is decorated with it's factory green paint work and transfers. Good condition (no damage, some wear to paint). Length : 104mm.
Goldie Gardnder first started driving M.G.'s in 1931. This car was the M.G. motor company's "EX135" which in it's earlier specification managed 204.2 mph in the 1,500 class in 1939. It was later fitted with a new streamline body (as this model depicts) and went on to capture six international class records at Utah in 1951. It was last driven at Bonneville in 1952 when it crashed, injuring Gardner.
