Quality Jaeger "Sunbeam" 8-Day Car Clock. c.1920

Scarce, quality 8-day car clock made by Jaeger (Paris) for the Sunbeam Motorcar Company. Dating from around 1920.

Alloy body with fastening nut and bolt at rear. Thick bevelled glass. Nice quality, fast beat, 8-day platform escapement movement. Cream coloured dial with black hands and Roman numerals. Dial signed, "Jaeger, Paris - 8 Jours - Sunbeam". Clock winder is mounted on the side of case at the 3 o'clock position, the hands are set by pressing the button at the 9 o'clock position and turning the winder simultaneously. Diameter (not including winder or setting button) : 85mm. Good condition. Working order, time keeping good.

The Sunbeam company was formed in 1877 , manufacturing bicycles. The first car was marketed in 1901, and from then on the company went on to produce many different cars, later-on mainly specializing in sports and racing cars. During W.W.I. the company manufactured aero engines, and between 1922 and 1930 Sunbeam specially built cars for several land speed record attempts.
