Scarce "Shell Oil" Lapel Badge. c.1930 

Scarce lapel badge made for the Shell Oil Company around 1930.

This badge is made from gilt brass and is decorated with red and black paint. It is made in the form of a conical oil can and bears the image of a robot holding a shell shaped crown above his head (this figure was part of a Shell advertising campaign around the time that this badge was produced). Below the figure is the caption, "Shell Lubrication Oil". The badge is mounted onto a button hole fastening and it's reverse bears the manufacturer's mark, "Sale, Birmingham". Length : 32mm. Good condition (some wear to gilding).
