Scarce "R101" Airship Memorial Card. 1930

Scarce memorial card produced in remembrance of the British R101 airship which crashed in France with the loss of 48 lives including the Air Minister, Lord Thompson and the Air Vice Marshal, Sir Sefton Brancker.
This card is printed in black and silver, it's cover is decorated with a crucifix and flowers and bears the caption, "Thy Will Be Done". The inside shows an image of the R101 and the following text, "The giant airship R101, which left Cardington at 7pm on Saturday, for India, crashed on a hill near Beauvais, France at 2.05 am and 48 of those on board - including Lord Thompson, Minister for Air, and Air Vice-Marshal Sir Sefton Brancker - were burned to death". Opposite is the text, "In sacred memory of The officers, crew and passengers of the British airship R101 which crashed in France on Sunday morning Oct. 5th 1930 with a loss of 48 lives including Lord Thompson, Air Minister and Sir Sefton Brancker, Air Vice Marshal. - May their souls rest in peace". Printed on the reverse is a list of all the men who perished. Dimensions (open) : 230mm x 76mm. Good condition (some light wear and tear).
