Very rare collar insignia made for Chaplains of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Manufactured in England by J.R. Gaunt and and dating from W.W.II. This badge is from the collection of the late Hugh King, owner of the world’s largest badge collection and co-author of "Head-dress Badges of the British Army" (widely regarded as the bible of badge collectors).
This high quality, three piece badge consists of a pair of gilt brass wings to which is applied a black cross with a gilded laurel wreath containing the initials, "NZ". The reverse is signed "J.R. Gaunt - B'ham" and is still fitted with it's original steel 'stile' type pin. Width: 55mm. Very good condition.
