Original signed letter from one of the highest scoring RAF aces of W.W.II., Wing Commander Robert Stanford Tuck.

This letter, typed on his personal notepaper was written in 1980 in regard to a party being held in aid of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. It also gives mention to his time flying Spitfires (during the Battle of Britain) with 92 Squadron from Biggin Hill. The letter bears his signature, written in ink. Dimensions : 254mm x 203mm. Nice condition.

Robert Stanford Tuck was born in 1916 and joined the Royal Air Force at the age of 19 in 1935. He flew Spitfires and Hurricanes throughout W.W.II. He flew air support missions for the British evacuation at Dunkirk and served throughout the Battle of Britain. He was taken prisoner by the Germans after being shot down over Northern France in 1942. His tally was no less than 29 confirmed victories, which increased to 30 in 1978 when a Me109 was found and credited to him. After the war he flew Vampire and Meteor jets and retired from the air force in 1949. He died in 1987 at the age of 70.
