Silk Postcard Insert

A nice example of an early W.W.I. silk postcard, still having it's original card insert.

This postcard has a white card surround with a grape and vine pattern in relief. The central panel forms a pocket with a flap which bears an image (embroidered in silk) of a Bleriot type aircraft draped in flowers. The bottom section is embroidered with the words, "To My Dear Girl". Inside the pocket is the original printed card insert which has an image of a girl in Highland costume, a Union Jack and the words, "Hearty Greetings For Christmas". The reverse is marked, "Fabrication Francaise" (Made in France).

Dimensions : 141mm x 91mm. The postcard has not been written on and apart from some light soiling, is still in nice condition.
