Attractive, vintage, gilt brass and enamel lapel badge made for members of what is believed to be the sports club of the British aircraft manufacturer, Handley Page. Brooch pin fixing. Width : 27.5mm. Good condition.
Handley Page Limited was founded by Sir Frederick Handley Page in 1909, his first aircraft being the "Bluebird". In 1917 the company designed the successful "0/400" heavy bomber and in 1919 Handley Page Transport was formed which operated air routes to Paris & Amsterdam. This company later became Imperial Airways. The company survived until 1970, in it's 61 years it produced no less than 63 different aircraft including the famous "Halifax" and "Hampden" bombers of W.W.II.
