Silver Commemorative Medal - 90th Birthday of Count Zeppelin. 1928

Nice quality, solid silver coin made in 1928 commemorating the christening of the airship LZ.127 (Graf Zeppelin) on the 90th birthday of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin.

The front shows the founder of the Zeppelin company, Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin and around the edge, the caption, "Taufe Des Z.127 Am 90 Geburtstag - 8 Juli 1928" (Christening of the LZ 127 at the 90th Birthday - 8th Juli 1928). The reverse shows a coat of Arms surrounded by children holding balloons and the Graf Zeppelin in the background. Above is the caption, "Glück Ab Graf Zeppelin" (Good Luck Graf Zeppelin). The medal is marked with the sculptors initials, "K.G." (K.Goetz). The rim is stamped, "Bayer. Hauptmünzamt. Feinsilber" (Bavarian Central Mint. Fine Silver). Diameter : 36mm. Excellent condition.
