Scarce W.W.II. 'Rotol Propellers' - 'Women's Industrial Nursing Service' Lapel Badge

Original W.W.II. period lapel badge made for the members of the Women's Industrial Nursing Service working at the British propeller manufacturer Rotol Ltd.

This attractive, silver plated and enamel lapel badge bears the image of Rotol's winged shield logo surrounded by a laurel wreath and a ribbon containing the word, "W.I.N.S." (Women's Industrial Nursing Service). Width : 24mm. Nice condition.

During W.W.II., Rotol Ltd. manufactured propellers for several aircraft including the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane. In 1960, Rotol Ltd. merged with Dowty Equipment Ltd. and British Messier Ltd to form Dowty Rotol Ltd. In 1990 it changed it's name to Dowty Aerospace Gloucester Limited and is still in existence today.
